New company Tynker believes that young children in elementary school should be taught coding, to address our technologically saturated society and that many children will benefit from a simple understanding of computers and programming as they grow up. Many other companies have spoken out before about making coding education more widely available.
The new tool called the Tynker Learning Platform gives students a basic “underlying computational logic” behind coding, saying no child is too young to learn the basics of programming, which could be a valuable skill for them in the future. The tool will bring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning tools to elementary school teachers to begin teaching the foundations of simple coding.
The beta version has already had the approval of Silicon Valley, which it hopes will instil an interest in kids in learning more about programming. The learning tool from Tynker offers free access to lesson plans, tutorials and the necessary software to grade and expand learning with the tools designed in such a way to appeal to children and keep them interested.
Codeacademy is a similar platform that is designed for teenagers and adults interested in learning code. Tynker’s tools aims to expand the view that everybody can learn the basics of coding with simple step-by-step lessons with an approach that is practical, not theoretical. The platform allows people to engage with the lessons of coding easily and many hope that it will attract more people into learning.
