Future Scientist Rashaad Loves Coding Characters

Thirteen-year-old Rashaad is from Bangalore, India. He’s in 8th grade and loves arts and crafts, as well as science. He’s made some great creative contributions to the Tynker community, so we chatted with him to find out what he thinks about coding.

What do you want to be when you grow up? A scientist.

How did you get introduced to Tynker? My sister found this coding app in her school’s computer class, and I wanted something like it so I searched online and found Tynker.

What is your favorite thing you’ve made? The teleportation project that I posted online.

What’s your favorite feature in Tynker? Character making, I love making characters. I loved editing their characters.

What are you planning to make next? The second part of Dimension Teleportation. I’m also working on other projects that I haven’t published yet.

What do you do with a project when you’re done with it? I show it to my family members and ask for approval and then I publish if I like it!

Why do you like to code? In computer class when I was introduced to coding, I just found an interest in it. I do code in my free time.

Do you think other kids should try coding? Yes, it’s very helpful to improve coding skills because in the future if you want to become an engineer, you’ll have to program.

What advice would you give for kids starting out with Tynker? I think you should go to the tutorials and learn how to do it properly.

Rashaad’s mom Asma thinks coding is a way for him to develop his creativity. She said she’s “really really proud of my son because he doesn’t waste time doing unnecessary stuff – he’s doing things that really help him.” She told us she’s really impressed with the animations Rashaad has come up with.
