Future Lego Engineer Zane Loves Coding!
Zane is nine years old and and lives in San Marcos, California. His favorite hobby is creating with Legos. He created a great project called “Hay Day” that we really loved, so we wanted to learn more about him!
What do you want to be when you grow up? Either a programmer or a Lego engineer.
What is your favorite thing you’ve made? Probably the phone game. I’m not finished with it yet though – there are a lot of things I want to add, and a lot of glitches I need to fix.
Do you look at the Tynker community projects? Yeah.
Are you working on anything right now? Yeah, I’m making a game right now.
Where do you get the ideas for your games? I had a farming game that’s called Hay Day and I liked it, so I wanted to make my own version of it.
What do you do with a project when you’re done with it? Well, I just save it and then whenever I get a chance to start playing again I start programming it to make it better.
Why do you like to code? You can just make some really cool games and stuff with it.
Do you think other kids should try coding? Yeah.
Zane’s mom Sarah told us that she thinks coding is a perfect hobby for Zane, and is very impressed by his projects. According to her, “He’s always enjoyed learning how things work and taking things apart, so we thought he had the right kind of brain for really enjoying the programming.” Sarah says that, because Zane has autism, conveying his creativity through language can be difficult, but coding is a great outlet for him through which to express himself and his creativity. Sarah thinks coding is beneficial to Zane because “he has a lot of great ideas and great connections between things and stuff that happen in his head that coding makes really obvious to see.”
Thanks for chatting with us, Sarah and Zane. We’re so glad you’re loving Tynker! We’re looking forward to seeing what you create next. Keep coding!
