Do you have an idea of what you want to be when you grow up?
Either a software or a hardware developer at some point.
What’s your favorite subject in school and why?
Band, because you get to play music.
How did you first learn how to use Tynker when you were first starting out? If you remember, what are your favorite Tynker courses or tutorials?
I learned by doing Tynker tutorials, mainly minecraft ones.
How have your coding skills improved since you started using Tynker?
When I started using Tynker, I learned how to use Python. And then from there, I went to a lot of other languages.
How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured?
I was happy.
What do you do with a project when you’re done with it? Do you debug it, show it to someone, publish it.
I play it, see if I like it, and if I like it, I publish it.
How do you think learning to code has prepared you for the future?
It’s helped me find out what my profession is going to be when I grow up.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I just learned how to program in Assembly.
We spoke with Charles’ mom about Charles learning to code
So how do you feel about Charles learning to code? How does it feel to see the coding projects he is making?
It just blows my mind the things that he can do and the things that he, just knows.Way more than I. His dad has the degree in that and actually works with computers for living. And he just blows both of our minds with
this stuff that he can do. His mind just works like that. He is just amazing. It’s really amazing.
What benefits do you think learning to code has for your child? What skills besides the technical skills of coding? Does it help him learn?
I just think it opens up a world of possibilities, especially for the future. That’s where things are headed. Something with a computer that’s where everything is headed. And I just think his being this interested in it
as he is and being as good at it that he is, I think it’s just going to open up a world of opportunity for him. It’s amazing.
