We’re thrilled to introduce our newest Featured Maker, 12-year-old Cember from Olympia, Washington! Cember loves combining creativity with technology and has been coding amazing projects with Tynker. Recently, we had the chance to chat with Cember about her journey and passion for coding.
Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be an animator or an ornithologist.
What’s your favorite subject in school and why?
Science! It’s the most hands-on subject.
How did you feel when you found out your project had been featured on Tynker?
YIPPEE!!!!!!!! I was really excited.
What is your favorite project you’ve made so far? What makes it special to you?
I don’t have a favorite. I like them all!
How have your coding skills improved since you started using Tynker?
When I first started, my skills were mid, but now they are much better.
What do you usually do with a project when it’s finished?
Finally, I let my fingers relax and then published it.
How does learning to code help prepare you for the future?
I’d need to code to be an animator.
What’s a fun fact about you that most people wouldn’t know?
I make comics!

How do you feel about your child learning to code?
I really love that she has an outlet for her artistic side that is also teaching her a useful skill for the future.
What has been the most exciting or surprising coding project your child has made so far?
The Sweet Lil Bumblebee project below is really great and cute.
Besides technical skills, what other benefits do you see your child gaining from learning to code?
She is becoming more confident because of coding and sharing her projects.
Do you think coding is helping your child become better prepared for the future?
Absolutely! She is learning patience and problem-solving when something goes wrong in her project.
Is there anything else you’d like Tynker to improve or add to make the product even better for your child?
She has mentioned that having comments from other Tynker users with feedback would greatly help.
