Community Highlights: July 2 – July 8
Happy Monday! We love starting out the week by updating you on what’s happening in the Tynker community. The Code-A-Thon is off to a great start! Over the course of Week 1, we saw lots of interesting projects on our theme of fireworks, as well as other fantastic projects. Don’t miss cool games like Super Codey Bros or Block Builder!
Projects of the Week
Fireworks Display by sidney_28
We liked this fireworks animation because of its friendly introduction and use of sound effects.
Wk1 – Code-a-thon- 2018 by R3b3cca
This fireworks animation is from “R3b3cca,” who receives a lot of appreciation in the community for her projects.
Super Codey Bros (Pre-release) by animdude
This Super Mario Bros.–inspired game isn’t complete yet, but we are already impressed with the prologue.
This drawing project uses cloning to let you draw with shapes. Tap a shape, then tap somewhere else to place it. You can click the shapes you create to change their color.
Move your car from lane to lane. Stay in the same lane as the blue dots to get points, but don’t hit the red dots.
Protect the baby! (HARD) by Fabapine
In this game, you play as a babysitter. Your challenge is to quickly find all the objects in the scene that might be harmful to the baby.
This project lets you control a koala with a jetpack. Use the button in the top left to set a new appearance for your koala and the background. Hover over the buttons with your mouse to move the koala around.
Tweets of the Week
Twitter was pretty quiet this week, presumably because everyone’s out of school. We did see these cool tweets from a school in England – they’re just beginning to use Tynker!

On the Blog
This week’s Featured Maker was Kyer! His description of how he gets inspiration is fantastic – “I get inspiration all of a sudden, like a loose untied balloon whizzing around!”
Keep contributing to the Tynker community! Parents and teachers can connect with us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and the Tynker Community Forum. Kids can start learning to code and creating for free with the Tynker app for iPads or with our FREE Summer Code-A-Thon!
