Cheyanne Loves Making Games!

When we asked this week’s Featured Maker what she wants to learn to create, she told us, “Google!” We love that nine-year-old Cheyanne dreams big, and we think she definitely has a future in coding. Cheyanne is in 5th grade and lives in Maryland, and in her spare time she enjoys playing video games like Animal Jam. We’ve loved the games she’s made in Tynker, so we spoke with her and her mother to learn a bit more about her and why she codes!

What do you want to be when you grow up? I don’t know yet.

What’s your favorite subject in school? Art!

How did you get introduced to Tynker? Computers made me interested in coding, so I looked up coding apps.

What is your favorite thing you’ve made? History of Animal Jam.

Do you look at the Tynker community projects? Yes – I like the coding! I look at it to know how to make other things. What Does the Fox Say is my favorite project that someone else has made.

What’s your favorite feature in Tynker? Making games!

What do you do with a project when you’re done with it? Publish it.

Is there anything you want to make but don’t know how to? Google!

What are you planning to make next? I’m making a project called History of iOS.

Check out Cheyanne’s most recent project, “AJ Scammer Wall.”

How do you think learning coding now will help you in the future? I can make computers!

Why do you like to code? Because it’s fun! I get to use art.

Do you think other kids should try coding? Yes – it’s fun!

What advice would you give for kids starting out with Tynker? Use the start button.

Cheyanne’s mother Melissa said that she’s excited Cheyanne is learning to code because “It teaches Cheyanne to use her mind, and achieve whatever she wants to develop over time.” According to Melissa, coding may “lead her to a career later when she grows up.”

We agree – Cheyanne definitely has a future in coding, if she wants to pursue it! We can’t wait to see what you come up with next, Cheyanne. Keep coding!
