Tynker Helps Jackson With His Maths Homework!

Fourteen-year-old Jackson hails from Melbourne, Australia. He’s in 9th grade, and his hobbies include camping, programming and tinkering with electronic gadgets. We loved his projects and wanted to learn more about what he thinks about coding!

What do you want to be when you grow up? Something to do with space and science.

How did you get introduced to Tynker? A friend told me about it.

Do your friends use Tynker? Yes, my friends use Tynker, but we don’t do it at the same time

What is your favorite thing you’ve made? My Pong AI.

Do you look at the Tynker community projects? Yes, I do. My favorite project that someone else built is Rainbow Atari Breakout 2.

What’s your favorite feature in Tynker? Being able to connect Bluetooth devices to it.

What are you planning to make next? A pixel art tool.

What do you do with a project when you’re done with it? If I think it’s good, I publish it.

Why do you like to code? I like that it is very logical and I can understand how it works very well.

Do you think other kids should try coding? Yes, I think it will be part of many jobs in the future.

What advice would you give for kids starting out with Tynker? Have a look at other people’s projects and see how they work.

What’s a fun fact about you? I use Tynker to help me with my maths homework like the right angle triangle solver.

Jackson’s mom Charlotte is excited her son is learning to code. We love what she said about the importance of coding: “As software has become a significant layer of all our lives, it’s important that children are aware of how it works and can enjoy using it to assist them. Our children are growing up in a different world than their parents and learning coding opens up many options. It can help them to tackle complex problems in efficient ways.” She thinks Tynker is a great way to do this, stating that Tynker “makes coding fun and helps the people that use it build useful applications and learn in a different way.”
