2021 TYNKER FREE SUMMER CODE JAM!

Summer’s here and so is the hottest coding competition of the year. This time around, our Summer Code Jam features MORE of everything — more fun, more weekly cash and gift card prizes, and more opportunities to win!

Just show off your coding skills for the chance to win up to $8,000 in prizes over 6 weeks! Want to hear the best part? Anyone with a FREE Tynker account can get in on the action, even beginners. So be sure to tell all your friends and fellow coders!

The Competition takes place from June 28th to August 8th!

Tynker Summer Code Jam is a skill-based coding competition featuring 6 weeks of exciting challenges to keep young minds sharp over the summer. Challenges are in block and text coding and will change each week.

This year’s theme is The Great Outdoors so look for challenges around sports, animals, and nature! And, yes, it’s FREE. Anyone with a free or paid Tynker account can participate. The account just needs to be connected to a parent account to be eligible to win a prize!

3 cash Grand Prize Winners covering the entire 6 weeks of challenges:

• The 1st place Winner will receive $2,000 (USD).
  • The prize will be delivered via PayPal or wire transfer.
• The 2nd place Winner will receive $1,000 (USD).
  • The prize will be delivered via PayPal or wire transfer.
• The 3rd place Winner will receive $500 (USD).
  • The prize will be delivered via Paypal or wire transfer.

* To win one of the 3 overall cash prizes participants must complete all 6 challenges by August 8, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

* Tynker has the right to expand prizes depending on the number and quality of entries.

Tynker’s panel of judges will determine the 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place winners based on each submission’s:

• Originality
• Creativity
• Use of code
• Adherence to that week’s theme.

Rules

1. Participants are required to have at least a free Tynker account.
2. Participants are required to keep their projects published for the duration of the Code Jam.
3. All submitted projects are available for Tynker to use in marketing and promotional materials related to the Code Jam.
4. Weekly winners must have a parent account connected to their student account to be eligible for prizes.
5. Criteria for selecting weekly winners by Tynker’s panel of judges:
   1. 25% based on submission’s originality
   2. 25% based on submission’s creativity
   3. 25% based on submission’s use of advanced coding
   4. 25% based on how closely the submission relates to the theme
6. To win one of the three (3) overall cash prizes participants should complete all 6 total challenges by 8/8/2021. The winners will receive a wire transfer or PayPal transfer in U.S dollars from Tynker and a 1099 or other form will be issued for taxes. Tynker can award the cash prizes to the challenge submissions that the judges feel best fit the criteria for selecting winners as outlined in #5.
7. Participants can submit as many projects each week as they wish and can win multiple prizes in multiple weeks. However, if you win the 1st place weekly prize of $200, you will not be able to win first-place or the $200 prize in other weeks. You can continue to win any of the $50 weekly prizes and be eligible for the grand prizes!
8. All submitted projects are eligible to be selected as a weekly winner. For example, an awesome week 1 project that’s submitted in week 5 and meets the criteria/theme is still eligible to win one of the weekly prizes.
9. Amazon egift
   1. An $US Amazon egift will be emailed to each winner’s parent. 
   2. Amazon codes can be used on Amazon.com.

Judging Criteria

How can my project be considered for one of the weekly or overall prizes?

1. Publish a project from any week’s challenge from either the Tynker tablet app or a computer. For example, you can submit a week 1 project in week 10 and still be considered to win a weekly prize.
2. Tynker’s judges will select the 1) overall grand prizes (3 in total), 2) weekly prize winner (6 to 9 in total), and 3) Nine (9) projects each week (72 in total), ALL based on the following criteria:
   1. 25% based on submission’s originality
   2. 25% based on submission’s creativity
   3. 25% based on submission’s use of advanced coding
   4. 25% based on how closely the submission relates to the theme
3. How will I know if my project won?
   1. Week 1 winners will be announced on July 9, 2021. Weekly winners will continue to be announced every Friday through August 13, 2021. If there are a lot of submissions, Tynker can move the winner announcement out to the next week. An email address or PayPal account will be required to deliver the prizes.
   2. NOTE: You must have a parent account connected to your student account to be eligible to win a prize so we can reach you!
   3. For the 3 grand prizes, an email will be sent to the overall winner’s parents with the winner’s check delivery information by August 31, 2021. An email address or PayPal account will be required to deliver the prizes.
   4. For the single weekly top prize and 9 weekly $50 winners, an email will be sent to the winner’s parents announcing they have won and the prize of $US cash or Amazon e-gift code each week by the following friday. So the week 1 winner will be notified by parent email by Friday 7/9/21 and the prize will arrive by 7/16/21.
   5. For the 3 grand prizes, an email will be sent to the overall winner’s parents with the winner’s check delivery information by August 31, 2021. An email address or PayPal account will be required to deliver the prizes.
