Tynker’s mission is to provide every child with a solid foundation in computer programming, a skill that will prepare them to become architects of their future.
To meet that goal, Tynker has recently added new ways for kids of all ages and experience levels to learn coding, from kindergarten through high school.
Learning to code using traditional methods can be frustrating and challenging. However, Tynker empowers creativity with a story-driven strategy to make it easy to learn complicated coding concepts.
What also makes Tynker unique is that kids and teens get to build their own coding portfolio with our award-winning courses and activities and post and share projects with our global community of young makers.
With Tynker, they can compete in our exciting code jams for huge prizes and access our expert staff of hand-picked teachers. And, best of all, coders get to use their imagination to create the most amazing projects with our innovative creativity tools.
Here are 3 ways you can learn to code with Tynker:
- Self-Paced Learning: Get a Tynker plan and learn to code on your own with story-driven, gamified courses.
- Small-Group Classes: Take an 8-week coding class or a week-long coding camp in the summer. Our Tynker teachers will help you earn a certificate in Game Design, Python & more.
- Private Tutoring: Work with an expert Tynker coach to help you achieve your personal coding goals.
Choosing the right Tynker plan for your child
We know that every child is unique and absorbs information differently. Some children can learn on their own while others need a helping hand. What seems certain is that remote online learning is here to stay because of its flexibility, ease of execution, and, of course, safety.
So, with online learning, where do you start? Which coding path will best suit your child? It may sound simple but begin with one, though parents that choose a live group class, for example, often get one of the self-paced plans too so that their children can continue working on their own outside of class hours.
Tynker comes with a 100% guarantee. If you’re not satisfied with our self-paced plans within 30 days or before the start of the 2nd class, we’ll give you a full refund.
Self-Paced Learning
If your child likes working on their own, then Tynker’s award-winning, self-guided courses and activities are a great way to learn how to code.
Our easy-to-follow video tutorials and powerful creativity tools will bring your child’s imagination to life. Whether they’re interested in animation, character creation, physics, or game development, there’s a built-in tool for that in Tynker!
Kids and teens will learn to code on their own and at their own pace—without any help from parents. Tynker has more than 600 hours of unique content, beginning with drag-and-drop visual coding before progressing to real-world text-based languages like JavaScript and Python.
Courses are interest-based, covering subjects like Art, Music, Game Design, Web Dev, Robotics, AR, and Minecraft. Tynker’s premium plans give kids access to our entire platform, including Minecraft, Python, and JavaScript.
A Tynker plan also allows coders to learn on the go using one of our three apps, turning travel time into positive screen time.
Small-Group Classes
Does your child’s ability to learn thrive in small groups? Then our coding classes with 6 students or less is a great way for them to take their computer programming skills to the next level.
All of our classes are led by certified Tynker experts, who encourage student interaction. Children start coding in lesson one and will advance through fun classes in a variety of subjects and levels to earn their certificates.
We offer super-fun classes in (beginning, intermediate and advanced):
- Creative Coding
- Game Design
- Minecraft Modding
- Minecraft Game Design
- Web Design
- JavaScript
- Python
After-school classes meet for 60 minutes once per week over zoom for 8 straight weeks while our summer camps meet for one week, Monday through Friday for 2-hours each day. Classes cover beginning, intermediate and advanced subjects starting at age 7.
Private Tutoring
For children who like to have a combination of learning on their own and help when they need it, Tynker’s new 1:1 private tutoring is a perfect solution. With this program, we match the most effective coding expert based on your child’s individual interests, age, and coding experience.
Their coach will prepare a custom learning plan, guiding them on their journey to learn code. Students have unlimited access to their coach right from their Tynker dashboard, where they can ask questions, get advice on code, keep their coding skills moving forward, and become MAKERS.
In addition to unlimited chat, coaches and students will catch up at least twice a month over zoom to make sure key coding principles are understood. Tynker’s package includes lesson assignment and grading, parent progress reports, project reviews, and 24×7 access via secure chat.
